Champ Car teams continued work with the new DP01 chassis at a recent test in Houston, Texas where Oriol Servia was invited to pilot the #10 RuSPORT/Cosworth/Panoz/Bridgestone entry. Servia and RuSPORT teammate Justin Wilson were able to work out a lot of handling and reliability issues with the new chassis during the two-day test.
“First of all, I'm very happy with the results of the MSR Houston test,” commented Servia. “Most of the crew and engineers that I worked with at the test I have known through the years and worked with in the past. The track was a new place for me but I didn't feel at all out of place. I want to take this opportunity to thank the team for the hard work that they put in at the test. We were able to get a lot done and run quite a few good laps. It was a great opportunity to work with the team.”
While this short stint with RuSPORT makes no promise of a ride for our seasoned Champ Car veteran, it certainly provided Servia with more seat time in the Panoz before the official start to the upcoming season, now just a few weeks away.
On a side note, Servia also recently returned from a trip to Brazil where he visited fellow Champ Car driver Cristiano da Matta who has made a spectacular recovery from an accident he experienced while testing at Road America last season.
