KV Racing Technology teammates Oriol Servia and Will Power both put on an impressive show over the weekend, scoring two top-five finishes for the most competitive of the transition teams.
While the weather was less than ideal all the way up to the drop of the green flag, the two pitted with the field early on to change to slick tires and then kept their noses clean through a race plagued with off-course spins.
With 30 laps remaining, the Aussie and Spaniard found themselves running together in third and fourth positions, respectively. It was then that team co-owner Jimmy Vasser piped in to remind them to take caution and remember the “golden rule”: Never take out your teammate!
The two drivers had no problem defending their positions though and wrapping up the race in the team’s best collective finish to date with the IndyCar Series.
This weekend’s race also saw Servia reclaim the 10th position in the points standings while his teammate sits just behind him in 11th. It looks like Jimmy may not be able to breathe easy just yet…
On a side note, though the team’s recent trip to Nashville did not give them the ideal results they were looking for, Servia did lead his first laps with the IndyCar Series. However, problems both in the pits and difficult conditions on track prevented the #5 squad from finishing within the Top-10.
Stay tuned as IndyCar returns to
Edmonton this Saturday at 5pm Eastern.
